Internship, A Necessary Part of Graduation Requirement

         Not every one of us will take part in the postgraduate entrance exams to continue education. The internship can be a wonderful opportunity for those who will work directly after graduation. For one thing, students can acknowledge better whether they fit for the kind of job or not. With the process continuing, they’ll give them an exact orientation and make best choice for acquiring necessary specific skills for their future related job. And as the “hire general rules” bore, one of the most important item is “work experience preferred”. Such form is an appropriate transition to consult with future job.

         We are drowning in knowledge, while starving for practice. Some students just disdain practice but Pursuing so-called academy blindly. Only combining the two in an appropriate way can we have the probability being smooth in labor force. As the saying goes, practice is the sole criterion for testing truth. What we’d learned in school just equip us with knowledge reserve, and it is practice makes eminent sense to convert intangible knowledge into tangible materials and consolidates accordingly. 

         A grasp of mundane affairs is genuine knowledge. internship could feed us what we’d not learned in textbook, expanding our horizon. Meanwhile, making the distance between society and us closer, which can improve our personal ability comprehensively and integrally. This is also the first step facing future work and study. Experts suggest that we should study the career rules with an active and forward mindset while having an internship. Do not expect the enterprise care for you elaborately. The focus of internship is not lying in obtaining skills but in a long period of time studying career rules, the way one gets along with people, the industry and the way to communicate of it, which focusing on career culture and morality. In addition, if the career culture is in place for college students, consequently, the career adaption will be cut down and promoted quickly. According to survey results, the average monthly wage for those who have internship experience are higher than those who don’t.

         “internship have no relation to our major field” is skimble-skamble complaints. Success in any area is not accomplished in an action. Taking sensitive entertainment circle as an example, whoever has the outstanding achievements is hard at the starting process. Before they are famous, what they did are far less than answering the telephone and photocopying such t rival things. Why? You may doubt. Attention! Life is like a box of chocolate, you’ll never know what you are going to eat. Everything real is rational. We’d better make it clear that whatever we did and what we are doing are not in vain. Mostly, however, it can not be paid off immediately and genuinely in our expected way. We hold no extra designed purpose the moment we absorb varieties of knowledge blended from history, culture, geography and etc, which is just like drinking water without obvious benefits to our body but it do being necessary. Our knowledge we had acquired in class packing us as a tree; we need to add soil constantly for ourselves through widely reading other subjects seemingly not related to our own field anew and anew, in order to stand our ground firmly when the rainstorm comes one day.

         There is a prime example defending the above thesis. A girl who passed the entrance test for MA of PKU taking one month. Before deciding to take part in the postgraduate entrance exam, she is busy preparing the materials going abroad but disinterested in finance gradually. And then she gave her one year time to have an interval. In the year she attempted different area and asking herself: what is the most important to me? How to achieve a balance between ideal life and the reality. The moment she faced to herself directly, realizing that she still held interest in art theory forming from childhood. Lastly, she made her final decision to pursue her dream continually. The point is perfectly demonstrated in her entrance exam, there is a art criticism theory she had never heard of it. She, nevertheless, organized the answer combing her daily understanding from the scope of knowledge she covered. After that, she searches for the theory only to find that the explanation are nearly same with her own understanding. No pains, no gains. Even the t rival things like serving drinks can be a stepping-stone for your future career one day unconsciously.

         Internship is not just short period work experience but a part of life. Wise man acquire from it, complaints just for the idiot. Just being an observant and conscientious person, experiencing what God guides for you."

Internships are Invaluable for College Students

         Internships are one of the indispensable steps for college students who would like to graduate from university smoothly. Different people hold various opinions about that. Some students reckon that internships are valuable treasures and lay a foundation of  their career life. On the contrary, the others complain that they don’t gain anything useful and making internships compulsory is a waste of their limited time. From my own perspective, I firmly believe that it’s essential for college students to apply for and do an internship.

         Today, we live in a world where most college students are desirous of success in the quickest way possible. They think internships are useless and ignore the advantages that internships can bring. First, doing an internship enables them to find out whether the job they have chosen is suitable for them or not. But the truth is that the current college student is an increasingly impetuous and immature generation, and is easy to follow the trend where they think they can achieve success easily and make money such as the popular purchasing agent. Every child, to be honest, is born with special talent, and not all the children are right for the same job. In that case, an internship is a perfect chance to let them have a further understanding about the chosen job, and teach them to distinguish appropriate work from inappropriate work.

         What’s more, college students can cultivate relevant practical skills and enrich hands-on knowledge from the internship. What they should clearly know is that the current society, frankly speaking, requires all-round college students who equip with theory and practice. However, the college education doesn’t provide students with practical knowledge. It’s true that Chinese education always stress grades no matter students are in high school or in college. The chance of practice must be gripped by students themselves. Under that circumstance, an internship is a good chance for them to achieve necessary skills and then make good preparations for future jobs. 

         In addition, it is important for college students to get sufficient connects which can get by doing an internship. A majority of students who just enter the workplace are apt to look down on certain trivial jobs such as answering the phone or photocopying, which reflects their wrong attitude. College students do not  realize these things can help them to create a good workplace connections. The more people they know, the more likely they are to find someone who can help them find opportunities and meet with success. In conclusion, personal achievements rely on connects partly. No matter what they are in the occupation, there is no bad aspect for a green hand to know more people in working life.

         Internships have special values, an important one of which is that students can become better gradually by making up their own deficiencies. Only when college students pay much attention to it and make full use of it can they acquire huge benefits. As a saying goes, “ Everything must be only done then been understood profoundly”. They will gain rich and valuable experience compared with their peer groups who don’t take it serious."

In recent years, with Chinese elements heating all over the world, a growing number of foreigners have taken more interests on Chinese College Entrance Examination.          Notice: Chinese College Entrance Examination, commonly known as Gaokao in Chinese,is an academic testing event held every summer in China’s mainland and joined by millions participates,a majority of whom are high-school students. Generally speaking, Gaokao is just like another SAT in China, and it is clearly important for those who accomplished high-school education and are applying to universities, colleges and other higher educational institutions. The examinations, which include the compulsory subjects of Chinese, Mathematics, English and elective subjects of physics, chemistry, biology, history, politics, geography as well as comprehensive knowledge. Please pay attention to the following steps, and accomplish them on schedule. The first step is to sign up an account on the educational official website belonging to each province, and then fill the blank about your personal information, including your name, school, home address for sending final score report card, telephone numbers and so on. Next comes several tough months with preparing final challenge, thousands of exercises are waiting students to do. The last step is filing the intention for university according to overall scores, after which you can be enrolled in your ideal university by hard-working and correct choice for intention.

         History: Before 1949, colleges in China were entitled to schedule their own tests for school enrollment. When Gaokao was firstly created in 1952, marking the start of reform of National Matriculation Tests Policies in the newly established PRC. From 1958, the college entrance examination system was destroyed by the Great Leap Forward Movement. Until 1978,officially resumed the traditional examination based on academics by Ministry of Education, Chinese College Entrance Examination, which has continued to the present day.

         Popularity: The first such examination after the Cultural Revolution took place in late 1977 and was a history-making event. There was no limit on the age and official educational background of examines. Consequently,it was recorded that about 5.7 millions students participated in it that year, when time goes by, the number of students who tested by this examination system are increasing per year, and it reached the peak above 10.7 million in 2009.With Independent enrollment has been an controversial topic recently, which is the beginning of provincial proposition, Gaokao is gradually losing its supreme significance as a gateway to higher education.

         Influence: The examination was uniformly designed and all the students across the country and urban sides take exactly the same examination, its hard rule is that students are allowed to enter the colleges of their choice when their overall scores pass the minimum qualifying score for colleges they apply to. Undergoing tremendous psychological pressure by both teachers and students, because Gaokao is one of the most influential examinations in China and the fact that students can only take the test once a year usually from June 6-7. Most of students students study from day and night, some even above 105 hours per week, they are suffering from severe nervousness during the test, in some cases, examines may faint in the examination room. It is still fairly low compared western higher education with Chinese, and it makes little sense to blame Gaokao as well, it has developed millions of eligible workers, engineers and scientists after all.

What Is College Entrance Examination?

         College Entrance Examination, as the name implies, is a qualifying examination for high school students to enter into an ideal university. It originated from 1952, but was abolished in 1965. Since the recovery of the College Entrance Examination in 1977, it has been implementing effectively till now.

         College Entrance Examination is held every year from June 7th to 9th in most provinces. In small part of regions, it lasts for only two days from June 7th to 8th. The examination is also for universities to select talents. It involves in subject knowledge of various areas. Chinese, math and English are three compulsory subjects. Generally speaking, high school students will major in liberal arts or science according to their preferences during the second academic years in high school. Liberal arts consist of politics, history and geography while science is made of biology, physics as well as chemistry. Distinct regions have different cut off score. Furthermore, there are some aspects for students to get extra credits, for example, the children of revolutionary martyrs, high-level sports players, outstanding students at the provincial level and so on.

         The College Entrance Examination is considered as a critical turning point of the whole learning career for students of grade three in high school. The review for the exam includes three major parts. The first review plays a fundamental and essential role in the whole process and students also need to spend much more time and vigor. During the first review, teachers ask students  to pay more attention on textbooks, including basic definitions, formulas, examples and more. It is a golden time for students who have deficiency in basic knowledge to make up. Therefore, the purpose of the first review process is to consolidate the basis and to make preparation for the second stage.

         The second review is a transition stage, which focus mostly on special exercises. Students need to take advantage of their acquired knowledge to solve relative questions as much as possible. But one more thing needed to pay attention, they need to deal with the questions accurately and efficiently. Thus, the second review process is to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of solving questions based on the fundamental knowledge. The significance of the final review process ranks next to the first one. Students have experienced the first two stages and summarized the experience and lessons, which can better help them to reflect and get down to correct the errors.

         The College Entrance Examination is not only examine the knowledge which students have learned but also the attitude. It is a long and protracted war, also a psychological warfare. During the review process, knowledge is the most important weapon. However, when it comes to the real battlefield, mental and psychological condition play an increasingly important role in applying knowledge to practice. The College Entrance Examination is a transfer station that students say farewell to high school and then start the next excursion for the wonderful life journey.
